Hell Yeah Project Jill Knouse Yoga

When I see her art, I cry. It is soul-stirring. This is the incredible Debbie Baxter and she is #39 of the #hellyeahproject ✨✨✨✨ Q: Where in community do you feel at home? A: My spiritual and meditation communities. I meditate for up to an hour daily. Stilling my mind gives me the capacity to hold what I need to in life and also to let go of things. My kids’ communities, artists, healers, Burning Man and Mama Gena school of womanly arts community -where I did a ton of work on embracing my feminine. Finding my soft. Q: Current mood in life? Passionate. Passion teamed with everything on the other side of that. The ‘why’ behind the passion is the tender, the vulnerability. The purpose is driven by the wounds and the pain that I can feel and physically see. Q: What has you saying “Hell Yeah” right now? A: Being an artist. Being an inspiration to others. Making art that heals. Art from the heart. And #TheNestProject. This project is my direct response as an artist and a mother to what is happening in the world today. I am a sensitive, empathetic artist and this helps me to deal with the pain. Then I’m further fueled by the impact it has on others. It’s very much in flow for me right now. Q: What feels like it’s currently going against the grain in life? A: Being an artist AND a momma can be challenging. The Nest adventures brought me to DC and Charlottesville. I got so focused, passionate and lit up by my work and when I returned I felt like I’d forgotten how to be a Mom —cooking, going to soccer practice. Somehow I had to click back in! It’s like two very different and separate worlds. Fortunately my partner of nearly 20 years completely shares in parenting and we complement each other powerfully in this specific phase of life. I work to find balance between what’s fueling my passion and honoring my own family Nest. Q: What are you most proud of in your life? A: My journey. Where I’ve come from and where I am now. For doing the work. My work. Doing the work forever ripples outward. And Debbie wants more love. Less fear. More connection, embodiment. Less disconnection. More softness. Less harshness. Favorite poem?Mary Oliver, “Wild Geese.” Clipped in comments.

Girl date! We didn’t officially call it a #hellyeahproject convo but it was totally #hellyeah in my book! Outside of #WDS we haven’t hung out much. But Stephanie and I have wanted to connect and we FINALLY made it happen – after each of us being a part of the WDS collective for 6 and 7 years respectively?? 7 & 8? Losing track!! Anyway, I could have talked with her all freakin’ night long. She’s a traveler, hammock lover, humanitarian communicator, travel-hacker, and a captivating story-teller. She’s lived all over the world including a couple years in Thailand, then in West Africa on Mercy Ships for 5 years, and a stint in Sudan…just to name a few. She’s worked in the non-profit world for upwards of 20 years. Oh and she OWNS a hammock company @inacolorcloud with besties Tianna and Laura. Michael and I have one that we WON with Dakota Gale at a scavenger hunt thanks again to WDS! Aaaaah, memories. Any who, I just wanna say, this woman is awesome and up to so much good in the world. She cut our date night early, though. 💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻 Tango was calling! 🤣 ❤️❤️❤️ #hellyeah #hellyeahproject #youareepic #rockyourtruth #iamsouljour #pdxtango @iamsouljour @inacolorcloud @wanderingzito @jillknouseyoga

Well y’all. I said 30 convos in 60 days and I’m up to #38. Despite slowing down a bit due to a cray travel schedule I found time to Skype with the one and only SoulJour creator, Ashley Melin! ✨✨✨ What an awesome convo this was. Ashley is a true trailblazer and is naturally gathering a community around her that is wildly alive, inclusive, inspiring, empowered, vital, living-full-out and mindful of their individual + collective impact. The apparel is really just a vehicle for the message. “We represent the collective journey to find our essence, reveal our truth & activate our purpose.” Yoga and specifically meditation has been a powerful tool on her path to self-realization and she is now passionate about being a beacon to others supporting them on their path. Her current mood in life is “Stoked!” She shared that, “everyday is awesome and I’m so blessed.” She came through a very difficult time a few years ago but the experiences clearly provided lessons and valuable perspective. Now things feel aligned, in-flow and she is “letting” life unfold in its divine way. Ashley is saying “Hell Yeah!” to people who are showing up to do the work, to women and working together, to each moment as it unfolds, to getting comfortable with discomfort and to the entire SoulJour movement! She’s saying less reaction, more compassion. Less policing of others and more “mind your own biz”! Less thinking and more trusting intuition. Less fear, more courage. Less plastic, more cloth! Reuse! Less passive, more lead by example. Less external/surface, more internal/deep! Deep bows of gratitude to Ashley for getting behind my #hellyeahproject and sharing the awesome hats with every interviewee! Deep bows to the work you are doing with SoulJour and for being one who walks the walk. 🙏🏼❤️✌️Please check out their website for more goodness now and to come! https://iamsouljour.com/ #hellyeahproject #iamsouljour #revealyourtruth #activateyourpurpose #rockyourtruth #yogaunites #communityoutreach #tellmeyourtruth #yoga #youareepic #hellyeah Follow @iamsouljour 🙏🏼 @jillknouseyoga @ashley_melin

This one will take two posts. So good. Part ONE! Where do I start?! I’m up to #37 with the #hellyeahproject ✨✨✨ Please meet the beautiful, powerful, kind, com-passionate -emphasis on passionate – @heathershawdendy ❤️ Our paths first crossed at Wanderlust in 2014 when she and her gal-pal @karip42 took my class! We were at 8,200ft above sea level on an Olympic sized ice rink (sans ice). I was teamed with the amazing @dj_hyfi and post-yoga we broke out into a full-blown dance party. Fast forward 2 years when Heather and Kari were founding their own festival in their hometown of Chattanooga, TN and we were invited to join! 🙏🏼 Heather is a part of the fitness/health community. She owns a fitness ctr in GA and also a Yoga Studio @southernsoulchattanooga This is passion work for her and so are her many philanthropic endeavors. She formed her own non-profit, is deeply involved with Children’s Organ Transplant Assoc (COTA), she encourages her whole family to be active and volunteer for various causes including feeding the homeless. She loves to co-create with other powerful, change-making women and that’s exactly how Southern Soul Yoga came to be. “It’s not about the money,” says Heather. “It’s about the community, how we can do so much more together, plus the desire to share the benefits of Yoga with others and allow it to support them on their path.” She loves teaching about the incredible tool we have right with us all the time. The breath. It’s integral to all of her offerings. Her favorite being the Sunday 5:30pm class. It’s a fusion of Vinyasa, restorative and then nidra -the focus on #vata balancing. Aaaaah. I want. The theme or current mood within her family collective is “independence” including lots of individual exploration. For her, it’s that, as well as, the power of “no.” Like me she’s a recovering people-pleaser and continuing to find her own way with boundaries. Her reasons for being involved with COTA are deep. Her son “Benj” – 1 of 3 awesome kids – has needed a liver transplant since he was 64 days old. He’s 16. “You got this,” is her motto and the energy behind her brand, Handful. She founded the company and designed the athletic apparel based on her own personal frustration. As an athlete her whole life there just wasn’t gear she could wear that kept things where they were meant to be! She’d be so worried about falling out of her clothes that she couldn’t be “up to what she was up to!” So she created a line that served her and her athlete friends. This is Jennifer Ferguson and she is #36 of the #hellyeahproject ✨✨✨ She’s a part of many communities including the entrepreneur community plus the community of active women and Handful supports breat cancer survivors in any and every way possible. Her current mood in life is “focus and listening.” She explained that she’s “an extrovert running around with her hair on fire” 🤣 – I love this description cuz it just nails what I’ve seen of her! She shared that she’s focusing on getting quieter and listening more. When I first walked into our meeting she said “hang on, Jill, I have a record a quick video.” She walked off to the side, without planning and in ONE take, she recorded a video about her company that she’d subsequently be presenting to a group of entrepreneurs. I was kinda floored. As an overachieving perfectionist I HAD to commend her on just gettin’ her done. Boom. Just like that. She said, “there are two things that get in the way, being right and being perfect.” Boom. Again. Mic drop. Love this woman. She confessed that she has the opposite of self-doubt. She has ignorant arrogance. She just goes for it. It must be her secret sauce. It’s working. Jennifer is saying “Hell Yeah!” to great things. She’s saying NO to good things. “Let go of mediocrity. Go for the great!” She says less Trump, and MORE less Trump. Less hate, more love. Less judgment, more understanding. “Oh and when you’re running up hill, don’t look at the top, just look for your very next marker.” #hellyeah #hellyeahproject #iamsouljour #revealyourtruth #activateyourpurpose #rockyourtruth #yogaunites #communityoutreach #tellmeyourtruth #yoga #youareepic Follow @iamsouljour 🙏🏼 @handfulbra @jennifercecelia @jillknouseyoga

When I think of community and what it means, Kathryn comes quickly to mind. She exemplifies the building of impactful community from a place of clear communication and integrity. I’ve gotten to witness her, over nearly a decade, as she’s continued to develop into a strong, ethical, compassionate leader and I’m honored to have gotten to collaborate with her on many occasions. Not only is she a part of our teacher training program but we’ve also got this cool thing called Sweat + Speak! This is @mothertruckingkathryn and she’s #35 of the #hellyeahproject ✨✨✨ She is an integral part of the fitness + mindfulness communities in Portland. She’s an integral part of the Lululemon leadership team. Much of our conversation surrounded diversity (or the lack of it) and the importance of being a champion for those who might be marginalized or excluded. “You cannot extract the optimist out of me AND there’s a lot of heart break for me right now.” Kathryn is deliberately using her privilege as a muscle to flex in order to advocate for change. She’s saying no to things where there is no diversity. She’s saying yes to things like flying to Houston next week with her partner in order to volunteer in pet shelters following the devastation from Hurricane Harvey. She’s saying “Hell Yeah!” to doing the work, to taking intentional action. Kathryn wants less congestion, more space. Less fear, more generosity. Less talk, more action. She finished by sharing that she enjoyed expressing her truths with me. “It feels good to share what’s inside. The light inside and the dark. The good and the bad. It’s illuminating.” ✨✨✨❤️ #hellyeahproject #iamsouljour #revealyourtruth #activateyourpurpose #rockyourtruth #yogaunites #communityoutreach #tellmeyourtruth #yoga #youareepic #hellyeah Follow @iamsouljour 🙏🏼 @mothertruckingkathryn @jillknouseyoga @lululemon

Laughter is part of every experience I’ve EVER had with this one. Even the serious, heartfelt moments tend to be infused with humor and her real take on life. This is Kimi Marin #34 of the #hellyeahproject and you gotta meet her if ya haven’t already. She’s so rad. She’s a fellow yoga teacher and you can find her @yogabhogapdx @thepeoplesyogapdx and @yogarefuge as well as her private yoga therapy practice. She’s an entrepreneur, she’s a momma to Atticus, she’s a wife, and she’s all about how YOGIC LORE can inform, represent, provide models + archetypes and educate us! Om Namo Lakshmi! Kimi is honest. I asked her “what is your current mood in life” and she quickly replied with a face, “I’m angry.” I waited for a comical comment but it didn’t come. “I have pent up frustration, I feel short-tempered with my son and husband. I find myself lashing out and it’s because I’m lacking balance in my life.” She shared that she’s trying to do all the things and not taking care of herself first. “For example, I’m not getting any movement in and I get crazy if I don’t move.” She had a forest park hike planned for later that day in the hopes of reconciling that to the best of her ability! One step at a time, literally. Even with that truth, she shared that she’s saying “Hell Yeah!” to who she’s becoming. “It’s a new time in my life. I can feel the transition. I’m feeling stronger, smarter, more perceptive, more receptive, things in my business are flowing, I can see where I need to take action and I’m taking it. I’m building confidence and trusting myself.” Kimi wants less attachment, more action. Less annoyance, more understanding. Less doing, more being. Thanks for talking to me, Kimi. When it comes to this beautiful (inside and out), amazing, empowering, encouraging soul, community is all about energy and vibe. She has a broad group of people she considers part of her community. It’s her neighbors, artists, parents, wine connoisseurs oooh, #hellyeah 🍷 … Alissa grew up in Hawaii so there’s also still a strong Hawaiian community that she feels very connected to. Then there’s the sporting goods industry where she’s worked for well over a decade. She’s getting more involved with mentoring the young professional women there. #33 of the #hellyeahproject is @alista33 – no surprise her power number is 33 and she “randomly” landed as my 33rd convo! Love synchronicities! #ontherightpath ✨✨✨ Her current mood surrounds the exploration of unconditional love. She loves hard but she also said, “I’m fierce!” And, “there are boundaries and limits to this love thing.” She might be able to borrow the quote Kellie T referenced! “Don’t mistake my kindness <insert love> for weakness.” -Al Capone 💪 She’s saying “Hell Yeah!” to women empowering other women. Honestly, I’ve always felt that from her and we go back a long time. Even after our convo she said “I’ve got your back, Jill. Always have.” She has created her own project called Women Empower Women Wednesday’s. She does a random act to encourage, support, uplift, embrace another woman and asks them to do the same with someone else when they feel the call in the future. Pay it forward. She asks men to get involved in empowering the women in their lives, as well. On Wednesday of this week, I was the recipient of her goodness. I received a heartfelt, handwritten note, a candle and TWO beautiful necklaces. One for me and one to gift in the future. Awesome. Grateful. Empowered. She says less BS, more real. Less negative talk, more women lifting other women. Less watering yourself down, more doing YOU. And, lastly she said “If it’s not a Hell Yeah, it’s a NO!” #hellyeahproject #iamsouljour #revealyourtruth #activateyourpurpose #rockyourtruth #yogaunites #communityoutreach #tellmeyourtruth #yoga #youareepic #hellyeah Follow @iamsouljour 🙏🏼 @alista33 @jillknouseyoga

“When wisdom catches up with vibrance, that is grace.” – Kellie Torres. She starts with a mic drop moment, of course. It’s Kellie Torres, I would expect no less and she’s #hellyeahproject #32!!! ✨✨✨ Kellie is a part of communities that support each other. Specifically a group of women that includes all ages, ethnicities, backgrounds but of like-minds. She’s motivated by those who welcome conversation about our education system and how it’s working (or not!), community building- what and how to, diversity…she’s motivated by intellectual minds in our community and she loves bringing mission driven people together! Her current mood in life is “content, grateful.” She said she feels at peace and the day to day fluctuations/challenges don’t throw her off like they once did. Perhaps this is part of her own wisdom catching up with her vibrancy and alchemizing it into grace. I asked her what she was most proud of. She quickly answered, “my kids” but then went on to clarify…”and not because they’re amazing and I did anything about it but because they are grounded, strong and independent. My daughter is so cool, so tough and my son is a quiet warrior.” ❤️✨🙏🏼💪 What currently has Kellie rolling her eyes? “Too many words. So many opinions. It’s exhausting. Just share the good.” What has her saying “Hell Yeah?” The doers in the world. Those leading by example. I just love her favorite quote, ” Don’t mistake my kindness for weakness.” -Al Capone The quote goes on but this is the part she shared and that I feel reminds us of the quiet warrior in HER. Kellie wants less talking more action. Less work more play. Less uncertainty more planning. Less pressure more intention. So good, Kel. Thanks for sharing your truths. Truth, vulnerability, heart and connection seem to be at the core of Tania’s being. Ever since I first met her I felt her joy and sincere love of other people. She’s warm and deeply compassionate. So it’s wild to hear her admit that she’s felt like an outsider her whole life. This is #31 of the #hellyeahproject. Yep, 31…that’s right, I’m blowing through 30 and still going! ✨✨✨ Tania shared that she didn’t really feel a part of much until connecting with Jennifer Pahl and the @twistyoga_lakeoswego community. She admits to being so grateful for the deep friendships she’s cultivated there. 🙏🏼❤️✨ Her current mood is “passionate and invigorated.” She’s working to turn some of the chaos in her world into simplicity and serenity. At the moment, she’s finding it hard to carve out time for self care and this leaves her with angst and additional feelings of chaos, of clutter. What is she doing about that? For one, dancing! 💃🏻Even after a long day of running around teaching yoga and caring for kids, she is trying to make time to get to her Brazilian Zouk class! I looked it up and it looks incredible! Tania is saying “Hell Yeah!” to life. To teaching. To personal growth. To learning. To exploring and doing the inner work. “I don’t want to try to escape the darker parts. I want to see them, be with them, accept them, move through them.” She’s also saying “Hell Yeah!” to collaboration. “I love finding people with similar hearts and intentions and creating something- teaming up with a great friend for a heartfelt yoga workshop, or other project.” Tania wants less judgment more acceptance. Less hate more love. Less guarding and self-editing and more vulnerability. Less distance more connection. Less clutter more emotional space. A favorite quote of hers, “And I know better than to exorcise the demons, For the risk of driving out the angels is much too great to bear in one holy life.” -Pilgrim, Britt B Steele❤️🙏🏼✨✨✨ Thank you for sharing yourself, Tania. Jyoti, I adore you and just loved connecting so that we could share what’s evolving in our lives. Thank you for your honesty and powerful presence. 🙏🏼This beautiful friend and I met 5 years ago. She has been an integral part of the Elevate community over the years and that began in 2013. We retreated to Maui together in 2015 and we continue to share our journeys as women on the path of discovery. Here is #30 of the #hellyeahproject ✨✨✨ Jyoti/Jodie is part of many communities including spiritual, yoga, parent, student, women and family. And as a very frequent traveler she feels connected wherever she goes on earth. “Being a foreigner in a foreign land is when and where I feel most at home!” When I asked “what is the current mood in your life?,” she reminded me that rather than setting a New Year’s Resolution each year she chooses a word to use…a word to look at the world through for the year. This year she chose “prepare.” She trusts her inner voice and intuition to reveal what this means over time. We talked about what’s currently challenging her in her life. Interestingly, last week every facet of life felt as though it shifted. And while many things felt out of alignment they now seemed in-flow…with the grain versus against. She felt like a huge boulder was lifted from its stuck place revealing the trickling stream below. Aaaah. She’s saying “Hell Yeah!” to the freedom that comes with that. A sense of untethering. Jyoti is most proud of her courage, of trusting her intuition and of being witness to the light her children shine out into the world. She says less story, more integrity, honesty, bones out, realness, transparency, authenticity, heart, unapologetic truth. Thank you for sharing with us. Love you. Hell Yeah Sesh #29 is with the beautiful, grounded, wise-beyond-her-years, Sonya Jean Klinger! ✨✨✨We met thanks to a mutual friend @jennabee_yoga ❤️🙏🏼 She moved to Portland 3 years ago from Colorado and was quickly folded into the yoga community here. She has taught at @yogapod @yogaonyamhill currently can be found at @thegrinningyogi SE+ NW. She practices at those awesome studios and enjoys classes at @yogapearl and @yoyoyogis when she can. She volunteers and teaches yoga at an addiction center on behalf of @livingyogaor + co-leads trauma-informed workshops with @carefreewhitegirl ❤️🙏🏼❤️ When asked where she’s swimming upstream in life she responded, “Everywhere and nowhere. It’s a pivotal time in my life. There’s a lot of ‘adulting’ 😊 happening and while I feel like I know the direction I’m climbing, I’m very much at the bottom of the staircase…while I know generally where I’m going it’s hard to see the top!” Her current mood in life is “thought-full, analytical, pensive, active, aware, reflective.” We were trying to find a word that articulated all of these in one! Got a good word for us? 😳 She’s proud of the fact that she always seems to turn her struggle and challenge into something positive. She finds light in the darkness. She grows “a lotus flower from the mud.” Sonya is saying “Hell Yeah!” to soooo much right now: to life, to connecting deeply with people. She’s saying less screen time, more nature. 🌿 Less competition, more lifting each other up. Especially as women. 💪 Less planning, more doing. Less expectations, more being whoever the hell you are! So great to #prasad with you, Sonya. You are a beautiful and generous soul! #love ❤️❤️❤️ #hellyeah #hellyeahproject #yogaunites #yoga #pdxyogascene #rockyourtruth please check out @iamsouljour @sonyajean @jillknouseyoga @prasadcafe @yogapearl 🙏🏼✨✨✨

This guy. He’ll captivate you with his charming British accent, metaphors and heartfelt, poetic stories. He’s an incredible person and I’m blessed to have met him 7 years ago when Lisa Blood dragged him to my joint birthday party with Sarah Kurtz. 🤣❤️ We’ve weaved through each other’s lives and the Portland yoga community ever since. I’m always soooo happy to see him, hug him and connect with him. This is Tony Roberts and he is #28 of the #hellyeahproject ✨✨✨ Tony is very involved with the @livingyogaor and @loveyourbrain communities. He teaches 2x’s weekly for those in active duty at the National Guard. And he has public classes at Unfold @unconditionallywelcoming @imagineyogastudio and @yoyoyogis – nidra, restorative and Vinyasa options! When asked what was challenging him in life at the moment he laughed and said, “Portland!” He talked about the increasing pace and the fact that “if you’re an old tree in this town, you don’t have a lot of friends!” His current mood in life is “staying curious” and he quoted a Mary Oliver poem. “Let me keep my distance, always, from those who think they have the answers.” Tony is actively using yoga as a tool to keep his body and MIND flexible to remain open to other perspectives, new ideas. He’s saying “Hell Yeah!” to LIFE. “I’m living the life I’ve always dreamed of living. Growing up I wanted to teach history and phys ed. Now I share yoga and its history with students and I’ve never been happier.” Tony is proud of his resiliency in life. And of 26 years of sobriety. “AA saved my life and yoga + meditation gave me my life back.” Tony wants less talking, more listening. Less reacting, more responding with the wholeness of your authentic being. Less concrete, more trees. Less vodka, more kombucha. Less phone time, more face-time. Last thing I asked was how it felt to answer these questions and he replied, “it makes me feel proud of my path.” I love you, T. Thank you for sharing! And for all you do. ❤️👏🏼 #hellyeah #yogaunites #rockyourtruth please check out @iamsouljour @tonyrobyoga @jillknouseyoga @unconditionallywelcoming @imagineyogastudio @yoyoyogis

You know when you meet someone and you feel you’ve known them forEVER? #soulsister That’s how it was when I first met Leah 5 years ago. First, she blindly emailed me to discuss local yoga teacher training programs. Her momma Millie -LOVE HER- had originally been a student of mine at 24 hour fitness dating back a decade or so ago! ❤️🙏🏼✨ I’m so grateful to her for connecting us. And since my Elevate 200 hour TT hadn’t launched yet 😋 I strongly recommended YoYoYogiTT! Four years later…she has completed her 200 hr training and subsequently a 300 hr. She’s an awesome human and a compassionate yoga teacher. You can find her on the schedule a couple times a week at YoYos, bunches of weekly classes at The Refinery and she’s with us at @namasteonwilliams ❤️ This is Leah Marshall and she’s Hell Yeah Sesh #27 ✨✨✨✨✨ Being with Leah is as easy and natural as you can possibly imagine. She’s genuine, transparent, funny, honest, silly, so bright and heartfelt. On community…she shared feeling deeply connected with the people at The Refinery on Fremont. A group of like-minded beings she relates to like family. ❤️ We also discussed how interesting it is to have people around us all the time yet we still get to feeling a tad isolated. It takes effort to remain connected! Her mood in life is “I wanna keep playing!” Despite our shift toward fall she’s got summertime vibes. “I don’t want to go back to the routine!” She said, “this summer I finally figured out how to release all the structure, take full advantage of time with my family, and soak up all the little beautiful moments!” Things are in-flow for her overall. She said she rides the wave on how to make teaching a viable business, though. Still, Leah is saying “Hell Yeah!” to figuring “it” out. Making “it” happen. This is “it!” She’s gonna get it, grab it and love it! She then giggled and said…”I don’t even know what “it” is! I believe she does! 👏🏼 She says, “less frustration, more compassion.”❤️❤️❤️love you so much, Leah!!! She loves her collection of colored pens. Her art is expressed in beautifully colorful mandala drawings. She reads children’s books during adult business workshops with powerful results. She is a business consultant, an artist, a momma, a wife and she’s passionate about helping people who need it. Hell Yeah Sesh #26 is with Michelle Gay ✨✨✨ Michelle walks on the fringes of communities. It’s always been true for her. She moves through them and there’s a richness to the tapestry of assimilating in many different environments with diverse groups of people. Her current mood in life is “big transition” as she seeks to reconnect with the artist in her and bring that back into her business. She separated the two for far too long and feels called to wholeness in her future offerings. Not exactly sure how it’s going to manifest but the intention and desire is strong. And so it will be! #hellyeah She has the energy of “life is always coming at us and I’m ready for it.” So when asked what was challenging her she responded that “lots of things are challenging and I simply look at what needs to happen now to move through this? I’m not a dweller” or a victim! Michelle is saying “Hell Yeah!” to working and teaching in prisons with an organization called A Social Ignition, (@asocialignition) with founder Sonja Skvarla who coordinates teaching entrepreneurship in prisons. The work lights her fire! She’s also reigniting that creative spark in her life. ✨✨✨ She says less ego, more compassion. Less self-serving, more service. Less blindness or looking away and more vision. Less soap boxes and more action! She’s asking herself and others “what will I/you do to make the world better today?” Thank you for all you do, Michelle! I love ya!!!! “The next message you need is always right where you are.” – Ram Das ✨✨✨ This quote feels so relevant following my beautiful time with Kristin Preston. This generous soul oozes love and presence from every cell in her body. When you are with her you feel truly seen, truly heard and truly held. It’s kinda AWEsome. She’s Hell Yeah Sesh #25!! ✨✨✨ Her deep passion and focus is on being mindful and sharing the power of mindfulness with others. It’s no surprise that when I asked her what communities she feels a part of she responded, “who I’m in the moment with. A loving neighbor, my dog, my children, a checker at the grocery store, YOU right now. My community is wherever my spirit travels. Whoever is with me.” Q: “What is your current mood in life?” A: “Meeting life where it is with awareness, non-judgment and curiosity. I’m falling in love with my life as it is. With the waves and beauty and challenges. I’m falling in love with people for exactly who they are. I’m in a space of listening to how to turn and follow the light.” ✨🙏🏼❤️ I always ask what people are swimming against, what feels against the grain of life and Kristin responded honestly and vulnerably. (Deep bows 🙏🏼) She said she’s deeply challenged by self-chatter around worthiness. “I have a lot of shame and I’m learning to say hello to it.” She went on to share that it’s heightened and “louder” in this moment due to so many transitions in her life. Her life-work has been raising two beautiful daughters and they’re young women now. The relationships are taking on new forms. Life is moving into a new chapter and this comes with many new sensations. Kristin is saying “Hell Yeah!” to all of that. The sensations of life. Feeling fully alive. The sounds of kids in the park, the colors of art and nature, the taste of wine, a sweet kiss, a loving touch, the sight of the eclipse, whatever brings you into the moment. Being awake. Kristin would love to see less disconnection, more love and connection. Less pretending, more authenticity. Less distraction, more presence. “The quieter you become the more you are able to hear.” -Rumi Thank you for sharing yourself so openly. @iamsouljour #hellyeahproject

Aaaaah Coop. You’re such a dear soul and you’re wise beyond your years. I bonded with @cooperwarner – no surprise – through yoga while I was on the schedule @yoyoyogis … but also over our love of dogs 🐾🐾🐾🐾 Hell Yeah Sesh #24 ✨✨✨ We met over at Grant Park so she could meet Addie – who was in rare form that day! Showing all the signs of a rebellious adolescent teenage fur baby. She’s a handful but we love her DEEP! • Community for Cooper is waxing and waning. She’s a recent law school grad so while school was her whole LIFE that community was a huge part of it all. She is also a part of the greater yoga community in PDX and feels a strong affinity for the #burnarmy @burncyclepdx 💕💕💕 Coop’s current mood in life is “positive”. She referenced a book which I’m going to check out called “You are a Badass,” by Jen Sincero. It’s about how to stop doubting your greatness and start living an awesome life. #hellyeah Q: “What currently has you swimming upstream?” A: “Career. Figuring out what I want to do, what I’m good at and combining them to make a living. I have to figure out how to support myself from my passions. Yoga classes aren’t free, you know.” 😊 When asked what she wants less of and what she wants more of she said, less complaining, more optimism. Cooper and I had a lovely visit that included chasing Addie around the park all while discussing how we could work together for the greater good. It will likely have something to do with animals. Oh and sweet run-on with @nicvillrice ❤️❤️❤️ Love you, Coop. I love the idea that inherently exists with balance…that two things can be present and true at once. From the yoga sutras we get sthira sukham asanam. Sthira and sukha. Steadiness and ease. Stable and relaxed. And, that’s a bit like Brooke in the best possible way. She’s strong and tender. Fortified and vulnerable. Adamant and open-minded. Wise and seeking. I’ve known Brooke for 9-10 years. We met at CorePower before she was married or had children. This is Brooke Fitchen formerly known as Brooke Churchfield. I love her loads and she’s #23 of the #hellyeahproject ✨✨✨💪 I asked her what community or communities she felt a part of and she gave a very different answer than most. I love it. Her response was, “my community is wherever I find myself. Because it’s found within. I’m not seeking comfort outside of myself. When I stand in my own power, my community becomes those who are standing with me.” She laughed and said “f!ck the rest!” 😂❤️ Her current mood in life is “blissful, powerful, full of love.” Brooke has recently been on a journey to truly understand unconditional love. “It’s not limitless,” she said. “It includes boundaries. And it’s ok to love from afar.” She’s saying #hellyeah to everything she wants to do in her life. She’s moving forward courageously and bringing her fears along for the ride. Also, building the intuition muscle…learning to trust it. I asked what currently has her rolling her eyes -just in general- and she quickly answered, “shaming and righteousness.” 🙏🏼 I’m with you, Brooke. ❤️ She wants less expectation, more living. Less assumptions, more loving. Less talking, more listening. “Let go of expectation and you will get just what you need.” – Brooke Please check out and follow @iamsouljour @heartbalance @jillknouseyoga • • • • • • • • •#iamsouljour #revealyourtruth #activateyourpurpose #rockyourtruth #yogaunites #communityoutreach #tellmeyourtruth #yoga #youareepic

Oh man, we had laughs, tears, inspiration, f-bombs and all the things during our time together! It’s good to see and be seen and that is what this project represents to me. We move thru the world with our own uniquely beautiful strides + swagger AND even in our differences we are all so connected…there’s so much sameness. ❤️ Here is Hell Yeah Session #22 with @brittbsteele ✨✨✨ Her community includes “spiritual seekers of any walk of life, our Sunday Satsang in Portland, and the indigenous women south of the border.” Then, she spoke of a smaller group of women she’s grown really close to…a group of women who “put their bones out, are raw, non-competitive, call each other out when needed and stand in truth. It’s a potent community.” 🙏🏼 Britt’s current mood in life is “rapture,” it’s effervescent and even in darkness there’s a contented constancy, a joy that’s present. She feels a pull to get moving…”don’t fall back to sleep.” At that moment she referenced a Mary Oliver poem that I LOVE ❤️ “Listen– are you breathing just a little and calling it a life?” Clearly, Britt is not. She is embracing aliveness and her own wholeness. When asked what has you saying “Hell Yeah?” She answered, “never give up your personal power.” She also added, extreme self-care and asking herself ‘what does my soul need now?’ She’s currently challenged by and paying close attention to actions that are fear-based and addictions to comfort. “I want to feel the fear and do it anyway.” Britt is resisting complacency, external constructs and “shoulds.” She said less stuff, more love. Less outside -what others think- more inside -what my soul knows. Less doing, more being. Less questioning, more trusting. Less talking, more practicing. What will you do with this one holy life? Amen. 🙏🏼✨❤️ Thank you for sharing! Hell Yeah Sesh #21 ✨✨✨ Right away you notice her outer beauty. She’s stunning. And every opportunity I’ve had to spend time with her, she reveals the depth of her inner beauty. I just love her and her sweetly handsome son, Nash! He’s 4 and precious. Longest. Eyelashes. Ever. Jessica Baker has been teaching in town for many years. She’s a huge part of the Twist Yoga, Yoga Pearl + Club Sport communities. She was a pillar in the AWOL dance crew for 9 years and still considers those connections family. 🙏🏼 Jess is declaredly living through her own “summer of growth.” That can be sweet and / or sour depending on the day and what facet of her life is being impacted! Her current mood in life is “transitional.” She’s consciously stepping into a greater version of herself and there’s both beauty and growing pains present. When I asked her what had her saying “hell yeah!” she looked at Nash with a chuckle and replied, “naps, pre-school and the occasional YouTube video.” 😂 Really though, it’s getting out of her comfort zone that’s lighting her up. Saying yes to new opportunities. Also her life partnership + relationship with her husband, Travis. ❤️ Jess would love to see less fear, more action. Less talk, more do. Less thinking, more feeling. Less chaos, more organization. She’s excited about life and all the possibilities that lie ahead. Last words to me were “thanks for the free therapy!” 🤣 Love you, Jess. Hell Yeah Sesh #20 ✨✨✨ Today, I’m saying “hell yeah” to the brave souls fighting fires in our area. And, thank you. 🙏🏼I’m praying for families, like my sister’s, who have been evacuated from their homes. Such a helpless feeling. If you learn of new ways we can help those impacted, please let me know. ✨✨✨ A highlight from my day was getting to connect with participants of the project. This is one of my besties and I miss him. Once again he has taken to the road but I caught up with him from Long Island, NY. Michael Riscica is an inspiring solopreneur and he works from anywhere and everywhere. He is an integral member of many thriving communities including yoga, architecture (in Portland, thru his company Young Architects and a global network he’s built!)…also the bicycle touring community. You see, he has cycled across America THREE times 😳 🚴🏼‍♀️ He keeps in touch with his global friends with the help of social media and different internet sites. Digital ain’t all bad. Riscica says, “my current mood in life is hustling, working hard and extremely efficiently so I can enjoy time with friends, family, Molls. Things feel very much in the flow.” In June of this year Michael sold nearly all of his worldly possessions and bought a van which he subsequently moved IN to with his dog Molly! THIS time he took his bike as a passenger and DROVE 🚙 across the U.S.! Michael has learned that he thrives in changing environments. He shared, “when my routine stops feeling fun, it’s time to go!” What’s got him saying “hell yeah?” All the fun he’s having seeing the world thru the eyes of his newly purchased drone! If this guy was to get a tat it would be of his sweet dog, Molls. See her there in the background? Michael simply wants less talk, more action and he’s deliberately surrounding himself with all the good people he can. Oh…and…he believes yoga is the answer to it all! #hellyeah #hellyeahproject #iamsouljour #revealyourtruth #activateyourpurpose #rockyourtruth #yogaunites #communityoutreach #tellmeyourtruth #yoga #hellyeahnyc #youareepic Follow @iamsouljour 🙏🏼 @youngarchitxpdx @biketouring999 @mollysweetlips @jillknouseyoga

Other than community outreach there wasn’t an agenda. I craved face-to-face and heart-to-heart connection. A pulse check. I wanted to listen and share, but mostly listen. I wanted to hear what was lighting you up and also feel what was bringing you down. I hoped I’d be inspired. And, I hoped that by sharing publicly others would be inspired. We are reminded that we’re not alone. We are reminded that we get to choose with each step the direction we want to travel. We are reminded that when we say “it” out loud, “it” becomes real. What is “it” for you? I love being more in the inquiry than in hard-and-fast answers. The answers can always be changing as we grow and expand our hearts…this allows the inquiry to shift, as well. Together we are giving life to ideas, we are getting the “juice” to take action, we are birthing collaborations, informing and fueling future projects. We’ve been discussing what’s possible and recognizing what we’re ready to be DONE with. We are elevating each other. Thanks for the convos. I’m loving every minute. Over 1/2 way thru…tho honestly I may never stop. Hell Yeah Sesh #19 ✨✨✨ “You are who you are when.” – Stephen Lei aka Wren’s poppa. I met this handsome fella on a trip to India almost two years ago. Please meet Wren – formal name, Warren but he took the “war” out. For good reason. He’s all love. ❤️ Wren lives in Berkeley, CA but as an avid traveler, he’s part of a global yoga community! And when he’s home you can find him at SF yoga studios like Yoga Tree Castro and Love Story. Esp with teachers: Janet Stone, Rusty Wells, Stephanie Snyder and others. In Oakland he loves Flying Yoga Shala. Wren is also an integral part of the greater Bay Area real estate community and after 18 years in the biz he actually still loves what he does! Inspiring. Wren’s current mood in life is hopeful. He firmly believes progress is on the horizon. “Status quo wasn’t enough. We are destined for more, for better.” Wren chooses to surround himself with an active, vibrant community and says it’s actually essential for him to thrive. He is currently saying “Hell Yeah” to nature. “The beauty. It’s always there. Right now I’m taking time to notice it.” He also feels “Hell Yeah” after an amazing yoga class. It’s those times when he feels deeply connected to others. He says “less chit chat, more real conversation.” Thanks for talking to me over the perfect pedicure, Wren. Hell Yeah Sesh #18 started with Tori’s beautifully centering yoga class ✨✨✨and ended with a diaper change! 🤣 Cuz life is happening! This woman is such an inspiration. Over the last couple years we’ve had business meetings together, pup-time run-ins at 1000 acres, sightings around town on the yoga mat and whenever I cross her path I ALWAYS feel her warmth + genuine vibe. She’s a painter, a sculptor, a Yogi, a wife to hubby John, a beautiful momma to Josephine, a sweet friend to so many lucky peeps…she’s got all the sweet layers and awesome flavors of a human being living life with great purpose. As a part of the greater PDX yoga community, you can find her teaching at The Grinning Yogi, Namaste on Williams and YoYoYogis. ❤️🙏🏼 There’s been ABUNDANT transition these last 3 years…they relocated to Portland, shifted jobs, tied-the-knot, got preggers and had a baby girl. So, Tori smiled huge when she said that her current mood is “stillness.” She’s enjoying keeping things simple and selective right now. Her community of friends is rich and specific. Time with family is a high priority and surrounding herself with people who “feed” her is of great importance. Tori is saying “Hell Yeah!” to a wisdom that’s rising in her and she’s enthusiastically following that…she’s saying yes to herself which can be extremely challenging for a newer momma. I was excited to learn that Tori is kicking off a new podcast next year. She’ll be sharing her thoughts, ideas, perspectives, Dharma-talks and giving birth to lots of new projects in 2018! Woop! Can’t wait! Tori says…less focus on the faults of others and more cultivation of our own hearts. 💕💕 Less inside, more outside. Less screens, more realness. Less digital, more face-time…like this! 😍 Hell Yeah! Thank you for sharing yourself with us and for going for maximum impact in life…it takes courage. 💋🙏🏼❤️ #gobig #maximpact #hellyeahproject #iamsouljour #revealyourtruth #activateyourpurpose #rockyourtruth #yogaunites #communityoutreach #tellmeyourtruth #yoga #youareepic #hellyeah Follow @iamsouljour 🙏🏼 @newburntribe @jillknouseyoga @thegrinningyogi @namasteonwilliams @yoyoyogis

Hell Yeah Sesh #17 ✨✨✨ “The right thing to do and the easy thing to do are rarely the same thing.” Just some of a library full of words, quotes and memories left to Wendy Farjami by her daddy, Charles Peck. ❤️🙏🏼✨He left this realm a little over a year ago but will be carried deep in her heart forever. ❤️ Wendy is one of my VERY best sister-friends. I admire her for her natural, unapologetic way of being in the world. We’re both proclaimed recovering-people-pleasers but what I personally see of her is a powerful, loving, honest leader who thrives on pushing her physical and mental limits. Some of her recent endeavors include a 50k run at Smith Rock, she’s also hot off the path of Hood to Coast for the 4th time, and WE happen to be running the wine country 1/2 marathon together this coming Sunday! 🏃🏽‍♀️🏃🏽‍♀️🏃🏽‍♀️ She loves trying new things and this summer attended a mountain bike camp in Hood River just for shits and giggles. 😂 She says “Hell Yeah!” to her relationship with handsome and uber-talented hubby, Mehdi. They’re about to celebrate 14 years of marriage and 17 years of loving each other. What’s also an inspiring testament to the strength of their partnership is their ability to successfully run a business together for much of the time they’ve been a couple. Wendy and Mehdi have created a thriving community at Tribe Hair Salon in NW. Wendy shared, in the process of building Tribe, there have certainly been ups and downs, restless moments and tumultuous times but the current mood feels calm, content and she is very grateful for the flow in this moment. She is surrounded by an awesome team and an eclectic group of friends who they consider “chosen family.” Wendy is also a part of the greater Portland yoga collective. She did her teacher training at the age of 46 (awesome!) with the hopes of getting a little (or a lot) uncomfortable while facing a fear of public speaking. Bravo, my friend!!! I got to attend her very first yoga class ever. 👍 She says…less more and more less! Oh and more dogs and more yoga. 💪❌⭕️❤️ Thank you, Wendy! There could be no Hell Yeah Project without Marli Williams. She just oozes positivity, enthusiasm for life and she loves her peeps hard. She is Hell Yeah Sesh #16 ✨✨✨ and I can scream from the rooftops “welcome to PTown, Marli!” After years of friendship connecting at @wds.official -thankyouverymuch- she finally made the leap from Bellingham, WA to Portland, OR. Why? With some happy and heartfelt tears in her eyes she said that she feels seen in PDX. It’s like you all see the potential in me. 💥💥💥❤️ “When we treat people merely as they are, they will remain as they are. When we treat them as if they were what they should be, they will become what they should be.” -Thomas S Monson She added that this is where she feels she needs to be for this season of her life. She’s craving more depth in her Self and in her relationships with others. Things were too comfortable in BHam. It was time to shake things up! When asked about her current mood, lots of words flooded out: “awakened, deep, present, transition, connection, percolating, redefining, reflective and just saying yes to LIFE!” She’s saying “Hell Yeah!” to Camp Yes – her summer camp for adult women, a place to use as a pathway for personal growth! She’s saying yes to PDX and this new chapter in her life! Marli wants less self-judgement, more compassion. Less loneliness, more alone time. Less surface level, more deep. Even with herself. Less worry over who’s NOT showing up and more focus on who IS! Nature, movement, her pup Summit-dog and spending time with friends all keep her happy and sane! This is a Hell Yeah kind of person through and through. Check out her @stokequotes to get Stoked! Hell Yeah Sesh #15 ✨✨✨ takes us across the pond to beautiful Paris, France- done over Skype! This is Colleen Keith-Besnard. She’s been living abroad for 3 years now and considers herself part of an inspiring, adventuresome expat community and a yoga community within that. She’s an ambassadrice for lolë and she’s currently taking a little pause from teaching yoga. She had been teaching around Paris — including under the Eiffel Tower and on the lawns of Versailles. Dreamy. She’s currently focused on cultivating a strong community of friends, working in her current job, starting to dabble in 🌹 flowers 🌼 again – she’s been a florist in the past and loves it! Flowers make people happy! Colleen knows that “What you seek is seeking you’.-Rumi so she continues seeking…doing inner work, exploring relationships, habits and interpersonal dynamics to observe how they serve her or perhaps more importantly how they no longer serve her and require conscious shifts. She’s saying “Hell Yeah” to raising her vibes, uplifting herself, with the hopes it impacts those around her. “We are all deeply connected and if I feed my soul I hope that will pay forward.” She’s determined to start with falling in love with herself. ❤️ Colleen says less complaining, more smiles! 😃 If she were going to get a tattoo it would be these initials EWOFM! Her very personal acronym for Everything Works Out For Me. It’s a reminder of the goodness in her life and that things always have a beautiful way of working out in the end. With that, her current mood is “positive” and “optimistic”! We love you Colleen! Hell Yeah Sesh #14!! ✨✨✨ I always LOVE spending time with Dina. Can you tell from this image? She’s just such a soulful being. Real, raw, aware, loving, humble, with a dry and edgy sense of humor, she’s no BS AND she’s all heart. I feel like she’s a momma bear to many. Don’t mess with those who she loves deeply! 😬🤣 I have admired and loved her for a decade or more. Since before she became a yoga teacher, before her kids flew the coop, since before she opened Santosha Yoga in Bethany. We’ve even bonded over friends, Yoga, adventure + waterfalls in Mexico on retreat. Thanks @xinalani 🙏🏼 Her current mood is “stirring, the winds of change, it’s time for change.” She doesn’t claim to know what that means but feels the churning waters. She says “Hell Yeah!” to hiking in nature and has been putting in 30+ miles a week on trails especially since getting hit with the “cosmic baseball bat” of a shoulder injury keeping her off the mat so much. Her mantra word is “accountability” and she rolls her eyes at many of our first world problems. “We should not expect more than we give.” Dina has created a thriving community where ALL are welcome at Santosha over the last 7+ years. It is a space held for healing, for love, for learning – all ages (she teaches kids to those in their 90’s), cultures, races, genders….ALL are truly welcome. She lives from a profound place of purpose. And she’s just kinda RAD through and through. Dina said less complacency, more creativity! Thanks for being, Dina. Lucky number 13 of the growing Hell Yeah Project — Lorijo! ✨❤️🙏🏼 And, I’m the lucky one. I got to spend time with this heartfelt, funny, madly creative sorceress of goodness. She’s a part of the art, photography and yoga communities here in Portland and her online photo classes connect her with people everywhere. PDX is a lot for the senses these days. Everything is in flux. As someone who is sensitive to energy she finds ways of unplugging and getting away from it all! She declaredly has a “hippie-heart” with dreams of living on a commune including 20-60 acres, a river flowing through the middle…Lorijo described it as having lots of little cabins that house all of her loved ones, a barn and land covered with farm animals plus lush gardens. That’s a big “Hell Yeah!” Another hell yeah for her is swimming in the oceans of Hawaii. 🌊 She’s a momma to beautiful Charlotte…and pup Dodger! 🐾 She’s a partner to Tom and a friend to soooo many. She oozes joy, love and a little mischief…and I love that about her!!! Lorijo wants to see less struggle, more fluidity. Less feeling blah, more inspiration and creativity. Less disharmony, more harmony. Less clunky old jalopy, more fast race car! Less, arrogance, more humility. Overall more equality in this journey called life. Yes, please. She has a thing for owls. She listens with her ❤️. Her tattoo says “I am free.” This is Nikki Weaver and I remember when I began an introduction to how incredible she is…two distinct memories come to mind right away. One, when I took one of her yoga classes which was poetry in motion…likely 10 years ago…she shared Mary Oliver’s poem Wild Geese. Have you read it? You might look it up. “You only have to let the soft animal of your body love what it loves…”. Pure awesome. Another memory, was when she and her hubs came to my class at @rootwholebody She was 9 mos pregnant with her first child. She was strong and graceful and popping into crow and headstand with all that baby right up in her grill! #badassmomma 😬 I think she went into labor the next day! And, she is Hell Yeah Sesh #12 ✨✨✨In 2015, Nikki chose a word to inhabit, rather than a New Year’s resolution. The word was “uncomfortable”. Do more uncomfortable things. She then sold her car and committed to bike commuting — remember she has two kiddos. She got her first tattoo. And after over a decade of teaching yoga she quit. With a theatre company, a husband and 2 little girls, a love of the arts, music and creating she had to overcome her fear of letting go and step into this new expansive expression of herself. And that is her current mood. Expansive and full of awakenings. Nikki said, “it’s easy to play small but I stepped deeply into myself.” She loves collaboration, co-creation and deep divine feminine connection. And she’s saying “Hell Yeah” to those connections, to practicing presence and “emotional flossing!” …that’s her term for moving thru transition, practicing openness, letting go, accepting what’s true… Nikki says, less anger and hate. More equity, connection and pause. 🙏🏼💥💪❤️ Thank you for sharing yourself boldly, Nikki. #iloveyou #beinspired #followyourdreams #hellyeahproject #iamsouljour #revealyourtruth #activateyourpurpose #rockyourtruth #yogaunites #communityoutreach #tellmeyourtruth #yoga #youareepic #hellyeah #togetherwecan Follow @iamsouljour 🙏🏼 @nikkiweaver @jillknouseyoga

“Remember who you are and who you want to be.” -Kristi King aka Melissa’s Momma Hell Yeah Sesh #11 is with this love bug. ❤️ And I’m not talkin’ about Addie. I have loved Melissa since the moment I met her. She’s almost always giggling, oozes positivity and an optimistic outlook and says that’s simply because anything else would be exhausting. 👍 She’s a part of the greater Portland Yoga community, the community of yoga teachers and more specifically a teacher + now manager at @namasteonwilliams I’m so happy that we both teach there on Monday nights cuz it’s given me a better opportunity to get to know this awesome soul! She teaches the popular Glowga events and deeply appreciates keeping a lightness of being even – and especially – in Yoga. Life gets serious enough. We have to remember to have fun, to laugh and to play. Together. Her current mood is “excited.” She has soooo much to look forward to. Melissa recently got engaged 💎to her person and she is finding her stride as a teacher. Big time. The momentum has her jacked up! And I could feel it when she was sharing! She’s saying “Hell Yeah!” to things that challenge her and get her out of her comfort zone! That’s where the magic happens. And when asked what annoys her… has her rolling her eyes…her face scrunched up and she quickly blurted out, “iPhone watches in the yoga studio!” Put your phone down peeps. Be in the moment! Less phone, more face. Less talk, more action. Less hate more love. Less unkind words and actions more living from the heart and peaceful center. Let’s promote inclusiveness. Hell Yeah, let’s. Hell Yeah Sesh #10!! 💪❤️🙏🏼 Her son is incredible – a self-proclaimed people-person at TEN years old! – and she struggles to take even an ounce of credit for who he has become. “He was just born that way!” she says. Brie is humble-pie, nurturing beyond measure with a little witchy-amazingness mixed in. She’s highly sensitive to energy and is beginning to use it to her advantage more and more. Astrology school, yoga teacher training and authenticity are prominent parts of her life right now…oh and Zac! Brie is a seeker of deep connection, of acceptance, of profound love ❤️ She’s longed to find a “home” where she can be real and vulnerable and honest and raw. She’s curating that kind of goodness and community at Barre3, at @namasteonwilliams and thru the Elevate community. She has ratcheted things up in her personal life by saying yes to situations that feel light and spacious while saying no to people and situations that feel heavy or against the grain. Her current mood in life is “excited”…about self-discovery, about new found boundaries and the beauty of going after “work” for the soul reward versus the financial reward. She’s saying “hell yeah” to that and how a beautiful community is proving to be the incredible byproduct. Brie wants less BS, more connection. Less talk, more action. Less passive-aggressive more authentic. Less soap-box more acceptance. She feels very much in the flow, swimming with the current and I say Hell Yeah to THAT. Goooo Brie. You are a beautiful soul. Thanks for being a part of this project with me. ❤️🙏🏼🤸‍♀️ #beinspired #followyourdreams #hellyeahproject #iamsouljour #revealyourtruth #activateyourpurpose #rockyourtruth #yogaunites #communityoutreach #tellmeyourtruth #yoga #youareepic #hellyeah #togetherwecan Follow @iamsouljour 🙏🏼 @briexjames @barre3portland @jillknouseyoga

Hell Yeah Sesh #9💪🤸‍♀️🏃🏽‍♀️🙏🏼❤️ She will make you laugh hysterically, she’ll share amazing insights and she’ll show you “The Way” to a sore ass, calves, core muscles…she might even make your quads bleed. Don’t let the beautiful face and smiling eyes fool ya. 😂 This is Meegan and she is inspiring on so many levels. When asked what her current mood of life was she answered, “I’m done playing small. The world needs adults. I want to make some shit happen. I want to take my whimsy and my pondering and actually make something real.” 💥 Meegan wants less busy, more choice. Less internal and more external…In other words “what can I do for others?” Less distraction, less air. More groundedness, more earth. Less virtual, more face-time — like THIS! Less mindless, more purpose. Less high school, more check yourself. 🤣 She’s currently feeling “Hell Yeah” and is fired up about the momentum she’s feeling in her biz and her life. She doesn’t know how…but she’s all in! She’s flowing and trusting the trajectory. Her peeps – or those who make up her community – tend to be low key, they’ve got grit, they’re not defeatists, they’re eclectic, they’re not showy and they don’t take themselves too seriously. They include some bee-keepin’, beer drinkin’, Yogi renegades! You can find this slightly rebellious, slightly disruptive, completely awesome human being at @yogapearl teaching #TheWay which is basically all the #thingswedontdoinyoga and also she teaches Vinyasa flow. She’s at @vmacpdx and my home away from home Define aka Morgan House. @meegangregg #beinspired #followyourdreams #hellyeahproject #iamsouljour #revealyourtruth #activateyourpurpose #rockyourtruth #yogaunites #communityoutreach #tellmeyourtruth #yoga #youareepic #hellyeah #togetherwecan ❤️❤️❤️ #souljour Follow @iamsouljour 🙏🏼

This image has Hell Yeah! written all over it and so does Dani. All. The. Time. Sesh #8 of The Hell Yeah Project is with @daniewalt She is so many awesome things including a badass biz coach, mom of THREE littles and wife to her entrepreneur hubs, Jon. She gets more done in a day than anyone I’ve ever known and has a blast doing it. Which is why it totally makes sense when asked her current mood in life, she answered, “carpe diem.” Dani also shared that it takes work to have fun. Wait what?! She explained and now I get it!!! You try getting 3 kids to the river with all their gear and a SUP. Then having to blow up the board. Life jackets and stuff and keeping three littles SAFE. Not an easy feat. She used to say no to the work and miss out on the incredible memories. Not anymore. Now she says yes and reaps the rewards. On Monday, they got up at the butt crack of dawn and drove to the path of totality with the whole fam to see the total eclipse of the sun. So worth it she said! I personally LOVE ❤️ it and I’m inspired!! Dani is part of her own family community as well as the neighborhood/school community plus the entrepreneur community which includes various networking groups that she resonates with. She’s also creating her own community bringing all her world’s together by gathering for outdoor adventures – forest park hikes on Friday AM’s, ropes course adventures and things like that! What is Dani saying “Hell Yeah!” to? Cultivating real relationships. Understanding what people need and want. Getting to know who they are. Not holding back. Being real. She wants less BS and more fun. Less skepticism and more curiosity. Less passive aggressive. More love. Dani loves bringing people together. And she does it so well. She’s a gem and I’m inspired by her many gifts. Love you, Friend!!! #beinspired #followyourdreams #hellyeahproject #iamsouljour #revealyourtruth #activateyourpurpose #rockyourtruth #yogaunites #communityoutreach #tellmeyourtruth #yoga #youareepic #hellyeah #togetherwecan Follow @iamsouljour 🙏🏼 ❤️💪

The Hell Yeah Project continues! Hell Yeah Sesh #7! ❤️ “It’s not about me.” -Pam Blair It took two meet-ups for us to get to share all we wanted to share and we could have 100 more and it wouldn’t feel like quite enough. I love talking with this amazing friend. A glass of wine @theboxsocial post-yoga @namasteonwilliams followed up the next day by a romp in Grant Park with Addie were perfect venues for discussing community, life, spirituality, partnership, and the current state of “things”. As an integral part of the Portland yoga teacher community, Pam shared how she feels such an automatic connection to fellow teachers. There’s an ease, an unspoken understanding with every teacher she’s ever met. 🙏🏼 These are people committed to self-discovery and I deeply resonate with that. Pam is saying “Hell Yeah!” to an upcoming road trip to Idaho, Montana and southern New Mexico. She cherishes time outdoors in nature – that time allows her to really be with herself. She will unplug 100% and come back a new person. And she’s “cranked up” about it! When asked what she wants less or more of, Pam responded “Less drama, more accountability.” Boom. 💥 Mic drop. Wait. But there’s more… Also a part of the Portland realtor community she brings the two worlds together thru Yoga Bug Realty with her team that includes handsome hubby and artist @brucebrickman They are quite a duo and serve the world of yoga and real estate from a place of intention, presence, play, heart, soul, good humor and personal values that are deep and strong. I’m inspired by this authentic and unapologetic human being and grateful to call her (and her hubs and their pups) dear friends. ❤️ What would Pam tattoo on her body if she had to? These words: “you can do this.” Thanks for sharing, Pam!! Hell Yeah Sesh #6 is with my husband @michaelknouse who I’m endlessly inspired by and so proud of… Q: What communities do you feel a part of and why? A: The Council which I curated, Pregame, WDS and your yoga community. Why? Because I appreciate what each group stands for — an element of inclusion, diversity and impact…oh plus adventure and fun! They are completely aligned with my core values and attract like-minds. I feel at home there. Q: What has you saying “Hell Yeah”? A: Evolving my biz to have more specific impact in more social ways, with group dynamics. I’m building a community that stands for something while expanding my biz model and reach. Also, the simple moments of this summer. Having snacks in the park with you and Addiebelle. Q: What is the mood of your life right now? A: That feels hard to answer right now. Both empowered and frustrated. I have to remember it’s not the process of getting somewhere. I’m on a spiritual journey and it’s all part of the whole. There’s amazingness AND frustrating shit! Q: What do you want less of or more of? A: Less noise. More focus. Less status quo. More impact. Less going thru the motions. More adventure and play. Less know-it-all. More learning. I think we all have more capability than we realize and it’s important to say “Hell Yeah!” to that! ❤️🙏🏼👍💋💋💋 #iloveyou #beinspired #followyourdreams #hellyeahproject #iamasouljour #revealyourtruth #activateyourpurpose #rockyourtruth #yogaunites #communityoutreach #tellmeyourtruth #yoga #youareepic #hellyeah #togetherwecan #teamknouse @iamsouljour @michaelknouse @pregamemag @pregamemag @wds.official @jillknouseyoga

Hell Yeah Sesh #5! 👍 “Be brave before you’re good” -unknown I love when the #universe conspires. I was truly supposed to meet this gem 💎. A couple days after she unloaded her car after arriving in PTown from “cutting and running” out of San Francisco (sound familiar???), she landed in my OM IT OUT collaboration class with @fitlifeportland @namasteonwilliams @___carolynn__ @valeriefidan @megaburnfitness ❤️🙏🏼👍 That was less than two weeks ago. Funny thing. I feel like I’ve known her forever. This is Lauren B and she is a beautiful, young yogini with an old, wise soul. We had a convo yesterday that lasted a couple hours and I loved it. When asked what community is to Lauren, she shared that for her it’s a place where people can be vulnerable. Where we can share what’s real and authentic. We all have real things happening in our lives. We all have pasts. Having a place to share honestly is powerful. If you believed what you saw on social media, you might believe you were the only one out there with real struggles. Society and social media share only part of the whole. Lauren has a very holistic approach to all things in her life and she intends to share that with others through an integrated approach she’s developing one true, authentic, heart-felt step at a time. Lauren is saying “Hell Yeah!” to the fact that she now lives in Portland! The proof is in the plates!! She made this happen and is beaming from the inside out. There are a lot of unknowns ahead but her absolute mood in life right now is “optimism.” There’s a cool looking path ahead and it’s calling her down it. Go forth and conquer, Sister. You are lovely and you got this! #beinspired #followyourdreams #hellyeahproject #iamasouljour #revealyourtruth #activateyourpurpose #rockyourtruth #yogaunites #communityoutreach #tellmeyourtruth #yoga #youareepic #hellyeah #jillknouseyoga #togetherwecan @iamsouljour @jillknouseyoga

The Hell Yeah Project continues… Hell Yeah Sesh #4! ❤️ This here is one of my besties! Jen Johnson has been a huge part of my life for the past 7-8-9 years?! Woah. They are stacking up and so are the awesome memories. Thank you YOGA for bringing us together! Jen has been a pillar at @yogaonyamhill (Portland’s only donation-only studio) since it opened. I got to rock out her class yesterday! I want that play list, Jen!! 👍 She’s now also teaching at @modoyogaportland ❤️ and loving the communities in both of her yoga homes! So…What has Jen saying “Hell Yeah!” right now? She had a few things to share. 1) her kids are going back to school soon! 😂 hell yeah. 2) she’s doing another yoga teacher training! An immersion in Seattle and she’s super psyched. hell yeah. 3) she is currently -like right now- co-hosting a retreat with the awesome and hilarious @yeahdave that includes amazing people, yoga, meditation, delicious food, chocolate, wine-tasting, eclipsing and pure joy. Um…Hell-to-the-Yeah!!! Michael and I love the way the Johnson’s embrace life, their friendships, their kiddos, their community. Hell Yeah Sesh #3! ❤️ “Don’t ask what the world needs; ask yourself what makes you come alive. And then go and do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.” Harold Whitman Talk about southern charm and hospitality. 🙏🏼❤️✨ These two epitomize it. Their core values, their deep care for others, their desire to make the world a better place…it oozes out of them in a sweet + passionate, humble + grounded way. Jill is in her last year of Naturopathic Medical School at @nunm_edu and her husband, Patrick is a rockin’ swim coach for groups of very lucky kiddos. Together they are beating hearts ❤️ of goodness. They are drawn to communities like their yoga-home (where I met them several years ago) @yoyoyogis …because it’s a place where they feel open-mindedness lives, where vibes are good and you are welcome AS YOU ARE. They agree that #nature is what makes them feel that inner “Hell Yeah!” It’s where they get away from the grind, get present, connect with higher power, gain clarity, simplify and feel FREE. Jill’s current mood in life is “motivated” and, with the way things feel in the world she is paying close attention to recognizing what serves her and what does not, setting boundaries and filtering accordingly. Jill is admittedly working diligently on the inquiry… How can I remain compassionate with people who I think are _______________ a-holes? –fill in the blank! Sorry Jilly but you’re right. It’s a very powerful question. She and I see eye-to-eye on sooooo many things – and we’re both pretty leery of dogma – so I asked…. Q: What is one thing you ARE dogmatic about? A: The middle path. Amen, sister. ❤️ #iloveyou #beinspired #followyourdreams #hellyeahproject #iamasouljour #revealyourtruth #activateyourpurpose #rockyourtruth #yogaunites #communityoutreach #tellmeyourtruth #yoga #youareepic #hellyeah #togetherwecan #jillknouseyoga #dontbeanahole @iamsouljour @jillknouseyoga @jillybean865 @aquavol0711 @nunm_edu

Hell Yeah Sesh #2! ❤️ “Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.” -Ralph Waldo Emerson After rocking out a training run with my husband yesterday AM, I was ready for a full day of talking to people I deeply admire. First up, a coffee date with this beautiful-badass friend + Fuel Yoga Workouts studio co-owner (owned w/her equally badass bro, Kai Krenek). Say hello to Holly Vetrone. I have known and loved this inspiring being for years and years now. When asked what gives Holly that “HELL YEAH!” feeling, I was moved by her response. She had a sort of three-part answer and it was all about relationships. You see, she’s really jacked-up about the energy surrounding their newly opened downtown yoga studio and the community that is rapidly solidifying there. Then she talked about how great it is to get to connect on this level with her brother, Kai. Together with their combined vision they are building something so personally important, so powerfully impactful, all from a place of wanting to empower others. And..what brought tears to MY eyes #shocker was the part about her husband, Brian. These two have been an inspiring couple in our lives and dear friends — so hearing her share how supportive Brian has been through this endeavor and through EVERY endeavor Holly embarks on makes my heart wanna explode. She shared her deep appreciation for him “her biggest fan” and how he is a profound mirror to her in her life allowing her to see herself, to learn, to grow from such a solid foundation of love, commitment, honesty. I say…RAD. I loved the real convo I got to have with Holly. She’s in such an awesome place. Not because things are perfect or easy…she has a lot of irons in the fire, so many moving parts and that is never “easy”. But she knows every challenge is an opportunity to evolve, to become the person you are meant to become. Boom. 💪💥🔥 #beinspired #whatfuelsyou #followyourdreams #hellyeahproject #iamasouljour #revealyourtruth #activateyourpurpose #rockyourtruth #yogaunites #communityoutreach #tellmeyourtruth #yoga #youareepic #hellyeah #togetherwecan @iamsouljour @jillknouseyoga @fuelyogaworkouts #litup

Hell Yeah Sesh #1!! ❤️🙏🏼 • “As you start to walk on the way, the way appears.” – Rumi • How blessed am I to kick off The Hell Yeah Project with one of my favorite, most inspiring yogini sisters and she’s here all the way from Hawaii. 🌴🌺☀️🌈 @xolovedani_ Thank you for sharing what’s “stirring” in your life. Sooo much awesomeness!!! Thank you for sharing your current struggles & fears, your greatest joys & those things that make you say “hell yeah!” Like “embracing your dreams even though they seem so impossible. And, walking forward in faith.” In Dani’s world “being vulnerable is working, holding back is not. Honesty is the way through.” What an inspiring conversation and I cannot wait to see all that you continue to bring out into the world! Keep taking steps into the unknown cuz you will not only survive, you’ll THRIVE! I want to feel more “Hell Yeah!” In my life, don’t you? What does that even mean? Well, for me…I want to do more things that scare me and cultivate courage, confidence, compassion. I want to serve more powerfully from an unapologetic and passionate place. I want to find new ways to support and love my students, teachers, friends, family and community. I want more adventures in nature with Michael, Addie and our favorite people. I want to continue to travel to exotic places and practice yoga there! HELL YEAH. I want to know what we can do together. How we can have a greater impact. How we can live more harmoniously. I want to discover new ways to do this. Sooooo, say hello to the HELL YEAH Project. I will be meeting in-person, in Portland, OR with 30 people over the next 60 days in the hopes of reconnecting community, activating purpose, discovering your wants, needs and desires, finding ways to best serve. I want to know what lights YOU up and makes you say Hell Yeah! And…well, we’ll just see where we go from there. The sky is the limit. There are only 30 spots and I’ve already begun filling them as a result of my first post!! Email me jill@jillknouseyoga.com to be considered for a spot.
